Green St. Project
This house was a major remodel in San Francisco. The home now has a lighting control system throughout, TV's just about everywhere (including behind the master bathroom mirror so the owner can watch the morning news while getting ready for work, or a favorite show while taking a bath after a long day), distributed audio throughout the house, and automated shades that block out the harshness of the afternoon sun while still providing a beautiful view of the bay.
AVT did all of the low-voltage systems in the house. The builder and homeowner greatly enjoyed the practicality of this service, as it meant fewer coordination meetings and a better overall product. Since every aspect was designed and implemented by AVT, it provided the builder a greater sense of control and importance on the project, and allowed them to do the project for much less than hiring separate contractors for each task.
2500 Steiner - Pacific Heights
This project was the entire 7th floor of a 100 year-old building in Pacific Heights. The owner wanted a dedicated listening room that he could also use to watch movies. This was a lot of fun to put together for our designer, and the finished product sounds amazing! The homeowner also wanted the ability to have the main TV completely hidden when not in use.
This was one of the more difficult electrical jobs we ever have done. Many of the rooms required that we break through tile and cut through wire mesh wherever we ran wires. It was laborious, but it was much less expensive than tearing down all the walls and starting over.
Berkeley Hills - Tao Residence
The goal of this house was to hide the technology. The owners wanted the technology in the home, but didn't want to see it when it was not in use. There are TVs in many of the rooms, a fully automated Homeworks Lighting Control system throughout the house, Automated Solar shades, distributed audio throughout, whole house phone/intercom system, and easy to use remotes strategically placed throughout the home that can control any part of the system.
Though there are five TVs total in the house, there are only two cable boxes. The owners wanted to have separate DVRs for them and their children. Both can be accessed from any room and by multiple people at once. This gives them the ability to start a recorded show in one room and finish it in another.
Orinda Spec Home
This is a Spec home in the Orinda Area.
We ran wires everywhere throughout the house to make sure the future homeowner could have TV/Cable, Internet, or a phone wherever they wanted without the huge expense of having to wire the home later on. When the future homeowners moved in, they were very pleased that everything had been thought out and planned for in the construction phase. Many of the other houses they had looked at had at most 25% of the capability as this one. It turned out to be one of the major deciding factors for purchasing the home.
Moraga Residence
This is a custom home that the client and builder were very focused on attention to detail. We really thrive in these environments. Not only does our home theater design and installation team constantly pursue perfection, we also enjoy being able to look back at a project and feel really good about it what we accomplished.
Orinda Remodel
This was a major remodel of the main indoor and outdoor living spaces.
While AVT does projects of all sizes, around 40% of our work takes place in existing homes, usually incorporating one to three rooms.
- In the first picture, you can see the backyard/pool area where we installed accent lighting and speakers for the distributed audio.
- In the second picture, there is a hidden rock speaker that escapes easy notice. It is the tan spot, near the base of the tree. Not only does it blend in perfectly, it sounds great as well. There are four total pairs in the backyard to make sure the sound is never too loud in any one area.
- In the third picture, you can see the inside of the new main room where we installed accented lighting, in-wall speakers, motorized drapes, and a whole new home theater system, including pull-out rack and cooling and power management.
- In the fourth picture, you can see what we normally do when it comes to in-wall, or in-ceiling speakers. No one enjoys seeing speaker grills more than they have to. We do best when people want the technology, but don't want to have to look at it all the time.
